Feature Request: Bulk Select & Manage Chats (Archive/Delete Multiple Conversations)

Hi OpenAI Team,

I’d like to request a feature that would significantly improve chat management within ChatGPT: the ability to select and manage multiple conversations at once.

Problem:
Currently, users can only delete or archive chats one at a time. For users with a large number of conversations, this becomes tedious and time-consuming. Additionally, performing many delete chat actions in quick succession triggers rate limit.

Proposed Solution:
Introduce a bulk selection mode for chats, similar to what some other platforms(c***de) offer. This would allow users to:

  • Select multiple chats via checkboxes

  • Perform batch actions such as:

    • Archive selected chats

    • Delete selected chats

    • (Optional) Move to folders or apply labels in the future

Benefits:

  • Saves time for power users managing many conversations

  • Improves overall usability and organization

  • Aligns with common UX patterns used in email and messaging platforms

Additional Suggestions (Optional Enhancements):

  • Confirmation prompt for bulk delete actions

Thanks for considering this request!

Hey @dhyey! Good callout. Managing chats one by one can get pretty tedious, so a bulk select flow for archive/delete makes a lot of sense.

Really helpful suggestion. I can’t share an ETA right now, but I’ll pass it along internally.
