Feature Request: "Amnesia Mode" - Mark conversations as "Off the Record"

I am thinking about Amnesia Mode (or “Off the Record Mode”) that allows users to explicitly flag specific conversations so they are excluded from memory, even if memory is generally enabled.

Currently, when memory is activated, everything discussed may be stored and influence future interactions.
However, there are moments when users might want to have private, sensitive, experimental, or temporary conversations that should not leave any long-term trace — without needing to disable memory globally or wipe their entire history.

Solution :

  • Allow users to mark a conversation or a message thread as “Off the Record” (before or during the chat).
  • Chats marked as “Off the Record” would:
    • Not be stored in memory.
    • Not influence future outputs.
    • Optionally, be automatically deleted after the session ends (optional for user control).
  • A visible tag like “Memory Off” or “Off the Record” could appear in the chat UI when enabled, similar to how “Memory On/Off” is shown now.

This idea is similar in spirit to the existing “Ephemeral Mode” (temporary sessions without saving), but more granular: instead of turning memory off completely, it allows selective forgetting.

How is this different than temporary/anonymous mode? I think I see what you mean, but question still makes sense.

Temporary Mode doesn’t save your chats. In Amnesia Mode, the goal is to let you keep your chats permanently, even though the model doesn’t use memory to answer or store any new memories.
