Feature Request: Allow Users to Delete Individual Messages

I would like to suggest adding an option to delete individual messages from a ChatGPT conversation.

In long-running conversations, there are often typos, duplicate messages, incorrect inputs, abandoned ideas, outdated answers, or temporary discussion that users no longer need.

Currently, deleting an entire conversation is too destructive, while keeping everything makes long conversations increasingly difficult to review and navigate.

I suggest adding “Delete message” to the More (⋯) menu of each individual message.

Ideally, there could be two options:

  1. Delete this message — remove only the selected message.
  2. Delete this message and all following messages — useful when a conversation takes a wrong direction and the user wants to continue from an earlier point.

It would also be helpful if deleting a message actually removed it from the conversation context used by the model, rather than only hiding it visually.

This would be especially useful for users who use ChatGPT for long-term projects and maintain conversations over weeks or months.

I believe this would significantly improve conversation management and make long conversations much easier to maintain.
