I keep getting “Error in message stream” in ChatGPT (browser and macos app),
Happening since 20 Oct.
All other apps working fine.
I also removed Chatgpt app from applications and installed again.
Network on my end is verified fine. No packet loss.
Still, restarted computer as well as router.
Continue to get this error on almost all chats.

There was a service incident on Oct 20 affecting ChatGPT conversations, which lines up with when you first noticed this. That incident has since been resolved, though, so what you’re seeing now may be separate.
Since you’ve already reinstalled the app and restarted your computer/router, could you try:
- A brand-new regular chat with a simple text prompt.
- An incognito/private browser window with extensions disabled.
- Another network, such as a mobile hotspot, if possible.
- Another device using the same account, if available.
If the issue still continues after these checks, please contact OpenAI Support so the team can look into the issue more closely with the necessary private details.
