Title: “Error in message stream” when generating a response with ChatGPT 4o on the Windows desktop app.
Bug Description: When attempting to get a response from the ChatGPT 4o model within the official Windows desktop application, the process is interrupted. Instead of the generated text, an error message appears, preventing the user from seeing the response and continuing the conversation smoothly.
Environment Details:
Application: ChatGPT Desktop App
Operating System: Windows
Model: ChatGPT 4o
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch the ChatGPT for Windows application.
Ensure the selected model is ChatGPT 4o.
Enter a prompt and send it to the model.
Wait for the model to generate a response.
Expected Result: The model should generate a complete response, which is streamed token-by-token into the chat window without any interruptions or error messages.
Actual Result: The application fails to display the response. An error message is displayed instead, stating: “Erreur dans le flux de messages” (which translates from French to “Error in the message stream”). A “Retry” button is provided, but the initial response generation fails.
Attachments: [Screenshot showing the error message in the application UI is attached]
Additional Notes:
The issue seems related to the data stream that delivers the model’s response to the client application.
The user interface was set to French, as indicated by the error message.
I’m a paying ChatGPT Plus subscriber, and I’m really upset about the global outage hitting your services today, June 10, 2025. I signed up for premium expecting a dependable service, especially with the perks you advertise like
faster access and better performance. But this downtime has totally thrown me off.
The outage has messed with my ability to work and it’s frustrating not hearing much about what’s causing this or when it’ll be fixed. I’d really appreciate it if you could:
Let me know when ChatGPT will be back up and running normally.
Look into some kind of compensation, like a partial refund or extra subscription days, for us premium users dealing with this.
Make sure premium subscribers get quicker support in the future.
I’ve attached screenshots showing the error messages I’m getting. Please get back to me soon—I’m counting on you to sort this out.
I get this error all the time. Started some weeks ago and it got worse. The last two days this is the only answer I get from Chad. It fails every single time I try to ask something.

People forget that tech isn’t perfect and rarely has 100% uptime. And what’s the point of cancelling your subscription anyway? By the time it runs out, the problem will be sorted.
