okay, right now there is no edit button and many people are paying for the plus but I think we should keep our dignity, let’s not go to a hysterical discord server where 12-13 year old kids behave like this, because the target audience of open ai is probably adults. So okay it annoys us, but surely we can do other things in our lives than this. I’m sure the developers are working on a solution, just be patient.
The funny is that Chatgpt kindly try to solve me the probem while the develops not. LOL. When ah AI has more empathy than actual humans
everything put this in console of inspector first enter allow pasting then paste this the button was not removed just hidden they sneaky as hell : javascript:(()=>{let w=window,f=()=>{let a=document.querySelectorAll(‘.top-0.hidden’);a.length&&(a.forEach(n=>n.classList.remove(‘hidden’)),console.log(‘Edit buttons restored:’,a.length));};w.iii&&w.clearInterval(iii);w.iii=w.setInterval(f,2000);f()})()
Alright, OpenAI, what the hell is going on? First, you take away the Regenerate button, forcing us to completely rewrite prompts just to get a slight variation. Annoying, but okay, we adapted.
Now, you’ve removed the Edit button, and this is beyond infuriating. The ability to tweak a prompt without rewriting the whole thing was an essential feature. Mistyped something? Too bad, start over. Need to refine your question? Nope, gotta retype the entire thing.
Why are you making the experience worse instead of better? These weren’t niche features; they were basic quality-of-life tools that made using ChatGPT more efficient. Removing them doesn’t “streamline” anything—it just frustrates your users and slows down productivity.
At the very least, we deserve a clear explanation for why these features were removed and whether you plan to bring them back. Because right now, it just feels like unnecessary and counterproductive change for the sake of change.
Seriously, OpenAI, listen to your users. We need these features back!
!! we need it back, it was useful
This is unacceptable! I can no longer regenerate at all in the custom GPT. Previously, I was able to edit and send it back, but now that’s no longer possible. The only reason I was using ChatGPT was for the custom GPTs, and now I have no other reason to use it.
My work around for regenerating custom chats is doing it on the phone app and refreshing it on the website. It’s super annoying we even have to do that, but you can still regenerate that way. I’ve seen the app for the computer allows editing still, but also doesn’t allow regeneration AND doesn’t allow you to see previous regenerations from what you did on the phone app. I have no idea why the 3 don’t have consistent capabilities.
Can you share the app allowing on computer please?
https://openai.com/chatgpt/download/ for the computer app, but my preference was until they got rid of the edit feature (hopefully temp) was just the chatgbt.com
Since this morning, I have been experiencing an issue where I am unable to edit the prompts in the chat thread. Normally, I can modify my previous messages to refine my queries or correct any errors, but this functionality is currently not working. The edit option either does not appear or is unresponsive when I attempt to make changes. This is causing inconvenience as I need to rewrite entire messages instead of making quick edits. I would appreciate assistance in resolving this issue so that I can seamlessly edit my prompts without disrupting the conversation flow.
same issue, it is infuriating
are they going to fix it? im starting to get angry Because i went to edit something this morning and then it disappeared.
same issue here. It was down on mobile first and only went down on pc recently.
are they planning to fix it
Me too found a temp fix for this
Search this in the topbar search Restore Button Bookmarklet

Where must i enter Restore Button Bookmarklet
It was back for a few hours this afternoon and now its gone again. Either this is a A/B test or the precursor to the feature getting locked behind a pawall like many other things
I faced the same issue today. Is it possible that the option to edit prompts for free is gonna become a paid feature? Wondering about it. Also a bit worried.
