Data Retention for Image Requests in OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 API

Hello OpenAI Community,

I’m working on a web application that sends images (selfies) as parameters in requests to the ChatGPT-4 API. These images are used to generate specific responses based on their content. However, the images do not contain any biometric data, personal information, or identifying details about the individuals—they are simply standard selfies.

I have a few questions regarding OpenAI’s data retention policies:

  1. Are the images sent through API requests retained by OpenAI, and if so, for how long?
  2. If they are retained for 30 days as mentioned in the policy, could you clarify why this retention period is necessary and how the data is used during that time?
  3. Can we ensure that images are deleted immediately after processing, or is there an option to disable retention entirely for such data?

Understanding the specifics of data handling is crucial for our application to meet compliance and privacy requirements. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Iris

This is a problem for us as well. I cannot process images (sensitive customer information) due to the 30-day policy. I hope there is an option to immediately remove the image.
