Sometime in the last month, ChatGPT “Export data” @ https://chatgpt.com/#settings/DataControls appears to have stopped exporting images that you generated. It used to, and I don’t know if this is due to the popularity of 4o image gen leading to large data exports.
I haven’t found an official answer elsewhere. Does anyone know?
UPDATE: Odd, I re-exported again, and this time it includes the expected files. The download choked and timed out, then retried a THIRD TIME… and it finally came thru. Is anyone else seeing this?
UPDATE: It isn’t working as expected again, is anyone else having problems? Is there a better way to export the whole Library of generated images?
Yep, seems they’ve stopped including images… it’s clearly my data. Or does GDPR not consider it personally identifiable enough to be included? Though they still ought to include it just for good-will reasons (if not the portability clause) or at least provide an alternative to download all my deeply personal art I created and wouldn’t wanna lose
This is something Google clearly does better, since their Takeout provides a fairly robust way to make sure you’re getting data from Gemini AI, or any of their services.
