DALL-E 3 : High API Costs

I’ve been using the OpenAI API for image generation and, while I genuinely enjoy the quality and creativity of DALL-E, I find it to be quite expensive compared to other available solutions. The results are impressive and unique, but the pricing per image makes it less accessible for regular use. It’s a shame because I believe DALL-E has a lot of potential to be a go-to tool if the pricing were more competitive.

What do you think about it, other users?

$20 per 250 wide DALL-E 3 images billed per image is cheaper than OpenAI labs was charging for $15 - 115 credit increments of DALL-E 2.

Then compare to the $20/mo subscription of ChatGPT Plus.

Hiya, welcome back.

Personally, I use Teams via the ChatGPT interface and find it a far more economical way to generate lots of images. Though Dalle direct via API is certainly going to become less expensive as competition continues.

I use image generation with ChatGPT Plus, and I also have another use case with the API. So yes, when looking at the absolute price per image it’s not realy expensive, it’s $0.08, whereas with the Stability API (Stable Diffusion 3), it’s $0.02. I’m really looking forward to seeing the DALL-E 3 API prices decrease.
