Custom gpt not working with "blue wave" voice

As of last week i don’t seem to be able to make my customgpts work with the voice mode. The “blue waivy” version of the voice competely ignores the instruciton of the custom gpt and says it can’t read them.

Until last week ago, it was possible to either get the speech to text version (the big solid black dot) or even I have the impression that the blue waivy one would read the instrucitons. is there a way to default to the old voice model until this new voices can actually read the custom instructions? thanks!

Hi, welcome back!

On the mobile app (I’m using iOS, not sure about Android):

  • If you start talking at the beginning right away in a custom GPT, you’ll get Advanced Voice Mode (blue circle). But it doesn’t follow the custom GPT’s instructions. It also doesn’t know it’s a custom GPT. If you ask its name, it can’t tell you the name of the custom GPT you’re using. When you stop and then start talking again, it switches to Standard Voice Mode.
  • In a custom GPT with Advanced Voice Mode, you’ll hear the voice you picked on Settings.
  • When it switches to Standard Voice Mode, it always uses the default voice called Shimmer for custom GPTs.
  • If you type something first in a custom GPT, then start talking, it will also use Standard Voice Mode with Shimmer.

On a desktop browser or the Windows app:

  • Advanced Voice Mode isn’t available in custom GPT on desktop or Windows app, even at the beginning.
  • If you start talking in a custom GPT, it will always use Standard Voice Mode (black circle). This one does follow the custom GPT’s instructions. You can type or talk again, and it stays in Standard Voice Mode.
  • In this mode, the voice is also Shimmer by default for custom GPTs.

This link is not updated. Currently there are ten (10) voice options, but it says five (5):

If you check Voice options on Desktop or Mobile Phone (iOS), you cannot see Shimmer because it is default for custom GPTs.

I did a sample chat with a custom GPT. At first, I used Advanced Voice Mode. Then I switched to Standard Voice Mode. You can see how its replies changed between the two.
