Is anyone else experiencing severe issues with “Continue Conversation” / split chats in long ChatGPT project conversations?
I’m working with very large ongoing production/project chats and I’m repeatedly running into the following problems:
- “Conversation not found”
- “No context”
- split/continued chats becoming corrupted
- chats visible in Desktop app but not in Browser
- Browser/Desktop showing inconsistent states
- some broken chats cannot even be deleted
- deleting appears to work, but the chats remain permanently in the sidebar
- every new split chat creates increasingly long “Teilgespräch / split conversation” naming chains
- renaming sometimes triggers additional errors
This has now happened multiple times across different long-running project chats.
The original conversations still seem to partially exist, but the continue/split branch system appears unstable or corrupted.
I already reported this to support with screenshots and reproduction details.
Would be helpful to know:
- are others seeing similar behavior?
- especially in long project-based workflows?
- Desktop app vs Browser inconsistencies?
- undeletable ghost chats?
This currently makes long-term production workflows very difficult.
