Has anyone tried using latest version Gpt 4o in construction field, architecture, give us some examples. I tried it for calculating concrete, bricks quantity etc.
Hi @D1zzZ0,
Yes, I’ve been exploring the use of ChatGPT in construction applications. While it can be helpful in certain areas, it doesn’t handle construction drawings particularly well. The only effective method I’ve found is to manually highlight the specific details I want it to process, which can be time-consuming. There are other software solutions, like Bluebeam, that perform much better with plan sets. However, if ChatGPT could integrate with tools like Bluebeam, it could offer exciting possibilities.
Where I’ve seen ChatGPT excel is in managing meeting minutes and working with spec books. For meeting minutes, we’ve been recording meetings, uploading the transcripts, and then using ChatGPT to generate summaries and categorize the discussions by CSI codes. It performs impressively in this area. Additionally, it has been a valuable tool for analyzing team performance during meetings. By identifying areas for improvement, we’ve been able to support team members in their professional development.
Have you had any success using ChatGPT for calculating materials like concrete or bricks? I’ve experimented with simple takeoffs by providing the dimensions (area, square footage, or linear footage), linking them to material costs, and even including labor costs per square foot. It handles these calculations quickly and presents them in a clear and simple format, making it a practical tool for basic estimating tasks.
i have been testing out takeoffs and estimation through chatgpt. Ive been getting very good results for Plumbing. The only problem i still come across is the pdf drawings can provide poor results depending on overlapping lines or specific line design choices.
