I see lot of posts here about realtime observability of codex usage limits. OpenAI “silently” released an iOS widget as part of its latest ChatGPT update that does exactly this.
Assuming you have updated your ChatGPT on your phone to the latest version, do the following:
- On your Home Screen press and hold an empty area until the icons jiggle
- Tap Edit → Add Widget in the upper-left corner
- Search for ChatGPT and tap it
- Swipe through the available widgets and look for Codex usage or Codex tasks, choose one, then tap Add Widget → Done
If you also want it on your lock screen (on my phone this was a bit clunky):
- Tap and hold on your Lock Screen → Customize → Lock Screen and tap the widget area below the clock
- Select ChatGPT and look for the Codex usage option
- Add it, close the picker and tap Done
