I’m a Plus subscriber using Codex for personal projects. I pretty much just use GPT-5.6 Sol light, standard speed. The weekly-only rate limit period was amazing, and returning to the 5-hour rate limit feels like a massive step backwards. This new limit has cut the 1-4 hours of free time I have after work down to a little under one hour before my limit is hit. I highly suspect I will have some of my weekly allowance left over due to the 5-hour limit and the time constraints I have around being able to actually sit down and build.
Additionally, for me, this makes the periodic free usage resets go from feeling like a genuine lifesaver when I’m close to the end of the weekly limit, to something that feels like it will never have any practical use. I’m not going to use the reset to get 5 hours back when I also still have 85% weekly limit left. And I may now never get low enough on the weekly limit before it resets automatically for the following week.
I really hope this change is reverted soon. I will try using Terra and Luna more and we’ll see if that alleviates it somewhat. But Codex was the reason for the Plus subscription and I’m not sure what I’m going to do going forward if it seems like I can’t make full use of it.
