Clear Parts Of Chat History

I want you to be able to ask ChatGPT to clear, lets say, the first 30 messages in the chat. The reason is if you want ChatGPT to have some context, and there are lots of messages, ChatGPT’s response will take slower, and the browser uses up more memory. The reason for this is because it shows you all of the messages that had been sent.

Totally agree with this. When working on a long project, the thread can’t get very long with lots of repitition. Asking it to summerise and then moving that to a new thread looses too much context, so being able to say, “remove duplicate posts”, or better “remove dupliate content” would be an ideal update.

Sessions get very long as it is always running ahead. A simple question often results in a VERY full answer. Saying “don’t respind in full”, or “I don’t need a rewrite of [the thread]” sometimes works, but often it get caughts in providing an entire mulit-part response that is mostly useless.

This is expecially annoying when doing server bug fixing, perhaps I just want to confirm a command output, it runs off with soooooo many later scenarios, without focusing on the actual message. This just chews up its memory, and the stop button is hit and miss.

I also wish I could type and use the enter key for a new line rather than posting the partial prompt. Again it just carries on, and this seems to screw the memory of previous good work.

In summary… listen a bit more, rather than assuming it’s answer “will resolve all problems”
