Chrome plugin missing from Codex plugin directory

Hi team,

I’m trying to set up the Codex Chrome extension using the official docs:

The docs say to open Codex, go to Plugins, and add the Chrome plugin. However, I don’t see any Chrome plugin in my plugin directory.

I checked the plugin list sorted alphabetically, and around the “C” section I see plugins like Channel99, Circleback,CircleCI but no Chrome. I also searched the developer forum and didn’t find an existing topic that explains this.

Environment details:

  • OS: Windows with Codex running from WSL/Linux shell
  • Codex CLI version: codex-cli 0.130.0
  • Chrome plugin is not present in ~/.codex/config.toml or the local plugin cache

A few questions:

  1. Is the Chrome plugin currently available to all Codex users, or is it behind a rollout/feature flag?
  2. Are there plan, workspace, region, app-version, OS, or admin-policy requirements for it to appear?
  3. If it is not generally available yet, could the docs mention the availability requirements?

Any clarification on Chrome plugin availability or setup requirements would be appreciated.

You can discuss Codex-related issues here, but the official place to report them is the OpenAI Codex GitHub Issues.

I checked for a closely related report and found:

My mistake.

I need to revise my template. You did follow what I wrote, but I realize my wording did not clearly convey the intended action.

Please add a :+1: reaction to any GitHub issue that is important to you. That includes related issues, other issues you care about, and issues tagged enhancement, even though those are not always “issues” in the strict bug-report sense.

Hi @v1kstrand, totally fair question.

Also appreciate @EricGT pointing you to another place to report it.

Right now, Codex for Chrome seems to depend on gradual rollout plus account/region eligibility, so it may not show up for everyone yet even if the docs imply it should.

A couple things that may help:

  • Sign out and back in
  • Reset the Windows app:
  • Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Codex > Advanced options > Terminate > Repair > Reset
  • Try installing it directly from the Codex extension page in the Chrome Web Store

In the meantime, web, CLI, and IDE extension access should continue working while this rolls out more broadly.

Agree the docs could be clearer here about rollout or availability requirements.
