ChatGPT Windows App v1.2025.41 disabled maximize window button

Since the last update a few days back, the maximize window icon (middle of the top right three buttons) is greyed out. You can maximize by dragging the corner of the window to expand, but it’s not as easy.

The image shows the minimize, restore, and close buttons on a dark-colored window interface. (Captioned by AI)

Faced the same issue. Either right click on the bar and disable “Always on Top” or what I did, I opened Power Toys and I disabled “Always on Top” and right clicked in the menu bar on Chatgpt and quit the app and restarted Chatgpt. Now, I can resize and make it full screen again. I hope this helps.

It worked once but now it is grayed out again and I can’t maximize it.
Before this update there was an option to open it in a main window and continue to use the companion window in a separate window.
Please restore it.

I found some workaround that seems to work - try opening it as admin and then the maximize option is enabled.

These “solutions” don’t work. They really need to fix this app, its gotten worse with each update.

The funny thing is that only when I open it via the shortcut, when I open it via the main app, its possible to open it full screen.

I am having the same issue in windows 11 what helped me is i open the app once and quit then toggle windows/System/Multitasking snap windows off and on. then open the app again. Since this is a electron based app (if i am correct) it doesn’t quite work with some windows settings.

Found another work around for Windows.

Open the ChatGPT window so that the icon appears on the Windows Taskbar.

Right click on the icon and select ChatGPT

This will open a new chat window with the window size buttons enabled.

Thanks, it helps. But too bad we need workarounds for this. It was much easier to use before this version.
