Since the last update a few days back, the maximize window icon (middle of the top right three buttons) is greyed out. You can maximize by dragging the corner of the window to expand, but it’s not as easy.
Faced the same issue. Either right click on the bar and disable “Always on Top” or what I did, I opened Power Toys and I disabled “Always on Top” and right clicked in the menu bar on Chatgpt and quit the app and restarted Chatgpt. Now, I can resize and make it full screen again. I hope this helps.
It worked once but now it is grayed out again and I can’t maximize it.
Before this update there was an option to open it in a main window and continue to use the companion window in a separate window.
Please restore it.
I am having the same issue in windows 11 what helped me is i open the app once and quit then toggle windows/System/Multitasking snap windows off and on. then open the app again. Since this is a electron based app (if i am correct) it doesn’t quite work with some windows settings.
Ahh, this is where I became confused. The only place to open either a “Full” window or a “Companion” window was via right-clicking the taskbar App icon (and not the app tray icon near the clock). The Companion window auto-resizes which becomes a real pain/show stopper if dragging between landscape/portrait monitors, or trying to dock the window somewhere tight.
Thankfully closing the companion app and using the full app (via right-click taskbar) solves the problem and I can drag/dock that window anywhere.
The issue seems to be that the windows are doubled. Currently maximizing only works the very first time you launch the app on W11 for me. But after that it always opens only the ‘always on top’ compact window which you can’t maximize once you close the main window and the app is running in the background.
Workaround that works for me is simply pinning the TASKBAR (not tray) icon to the taskbar. That way you can re-open the main window after closing it. And keep using always on top one by launching it either from tray or with keyboard shortcut.
