Not 100% sure if this is a ChatGPT or iPhone related issue, but when I use voice to communicate with ChatGPT it tries to interpret my English speaking voice into my local language (Finnish in this case) and then also answers in that local language. It is frustrating as one can imagine when you try to interpret English spoken language to Finnish it is sometimes just gibberish. My iPhone language is English by default and also ChatGPT has English as the default language selected in settings. I also have instructed via updated memory for ChatGPT to use the language that it is being communicated with originally. Still sometimes it just switches to local language. This doesn’t happen all the time, but quite often (~20% of the time). What is up with that?
I’m also having the exact same problem with my Android device as long as I keep the voice Input Language setting as Auto-Detect which is the default value. About 20% of the time it translates my English input into Finnish in the transcription phase and makes somewhat poor translations, which throws ChatGPT off in the conversation. It would be great to get the Auto-Detect setting to work correctly.
But if you set the Input Language setting to English, then all input will be given to ChatGPT in English (even if you speak Finnish.) It’s a bit of an annoyance having to change the setting each time you switch your input language, but at least works around the issue a little.
