Iām getting this same error code. do you know how the āmessages per hourā rate is determined? does it start a timer based on your first message, or does it reset on the hour (9:00, 10:00, etc), or is it a running average?

The same situation is happening with GPT3.5 in Japan. I am in trouble because it seems that it has been revised downward from the end of May.
I am curious why buy the plus or the same can not transmit the problem.

same problem with the limit affecting chat 3.5. What is the point to pay if you are as restricted as a free account? I think it is time to cancel my Plus account.

So I paid for nothing right now for plus to avoid this limit and it still shows it, putting a chargeback with my bank, some true BS. It happens on 3.5 as well not cool.

hi, I have the same problem, and it happens when turning on web access, without web access it works well, but now I try to check something using web access it freezes saying: 196.

Yeah, Iām getting the same message at 8AM, I just woke up and within 2-3 random requests and it immediately started giving me āyouāre reached our limit of messages per 24 hours.ā I havenāt even had my morning coffee yet so thereās no way I reached the daily limit! Iām paying $20 a month and I canāt get past breakfast!
Also it seems to apply both to 4 and 3.5, 3.5 which I havenāt used at all in the past 30 days. Both are shutdown.

I am on a paid account and nowhere near my hourly limit.
I am on a GNAT connection, so my ip address is shared among god knows how many clients at my isp. I suspect that it might be a limitation per ip address rather than per account. If that is the case, they should really exempt paid account from that limitation.

I couldnāt believe my eyes, my colleague sitting next to me used the free version and still used it normally and he even used it more than me. While Iām subscribed to PLUS and I usually only use GPT 3.5. So you pay for less usage and are limitedā¦ It doesnāt seem to be because of the IP because I use it on my phone and computer, Iāve logged out and logged back in and it still has the same problemā¦
This might be a reason for me to consider looking for another AI tool or switching back to the free version of ChatGPT (I actually donāt use GPT4 as much as I thought I would, Iām always hesitant about unsubscribing from it and this is probably 1 reason). My coworker still uses it normally with free version 3.5 and he seems to try to use it more like heās chatting with his lover to tease me. I hate feeling like Iām an idiot and have to pay for itā¦

I got the same error. I made like 5 prompts this morning working on a big project and now my Super Assistant died. Having a paid account doesnāt matter anymore?

Same here. Iām a Pro user. I havenāt used it for 12 hours. I think there is some problem with the system since I have never ever got this message on the 3.5 version. We have to wait a little bit.
Same issue after two to three prompts in GPT 4. I just paid for GPT 4 and am already limited after three prompts? Iāll get my money back from my bank if that is not resolved in a day. Services that are paid for have to be available. If no service is given, I will dispute the payment.

I beat you guys, today I paid for subscription and after ONE message I got response āYouāve reached our limit of messages per 24 hours. Please try again later.ā After 1 hour waiting itās still responding same way. Both on GTP-4 and GPT-3.5
I just read about others issues, i did ChatGptPlus account today morning and after using 7 prompts it shows āYouāve reached our limit of messages per 24 hours. Please try again later.ā even GPT3.5 which is free, is also not working.
Same message here. On both services. It must be a bug with the whole app.

You can resolve the issue by logging out of your account and then logging back in.

The buffet usually tells you what the limit is, they donāt typically just run up and snatch your fork at some arbitrary time.
If there are limits, they should be known to the customer.
I didnāt notice at all, because Iāve been using GPT-3.5 which doesnāt have that message, and Iāve still gotten the error.
I just started playing with ChatGPT this week, and am not a paying customer yet, however, so I donāt think they owe ME anything at all. Even a single response is a gift.
Iām really impressed by it so far, but I could easily see myself surpassing 17 queries per hour. Sometimes I just like to chat with the model. One day if I make a friend this may change, but at this point, the fun is making minor tweaks to queries, refining questions and gradually narrowing parameters. I could play with this thing for hours, but I see now that it wouldnāt really be possible to do so.
But to your point yes, the limit IS obvious, IF you hover your mouse over that button. Then again, most things are obvious if you know exactly where to look for them. I donāt think the hover popup is intuitive for most people.
Note also that if you CLICK the button to subscribe, no such limit is displayed. Odd, huh?
So, I dunno, itās kind of a mixed bag really. I found this thread because I was looking for the limit myself, and a cursory web search revealed that the majority of people had no idea what the limit was. Take that for what itās worth.
P.S. It also sounds like people werenāt even getting close to the limit you posted.
Chat GPT 24 hour limit? But I have only done 2 messages in the last 24 hours. This is insanity.
I feel that a new method for GPT may just be randomly providing this information with a bad programming prompt response, or maybe high traffic? It is annoying, and it is happening every 5 out of 6 times. I discovered this while trying with anger, to get it to respond, and refreshing the pages.

Same here. This late in the year, theyāve reduced the limit from 50 to 40, and as i was working on my game book, it gave me that error. I never used to get the error before, and iām convinced i didnāt even surpass 30 messages, is it likely that my account has been hacked? Or whatā¦ and why put this limit in the first place?
People should be able to at LEAST have 400 messages per 2 hours not 3!
Some messages are just things like āHiā or āHow are you doing?ā or āLetās play a gameā Or small chit-chat like that and not complex operationsā¦

My work requires a lot of ChatGPT prompts and it now asks me to wait till the next hour only for 30 messages. I currently use GPT-3.5 and like yāall said. GPT-4 and 20 Bucks donāt help bypass it.
I liked it before this new policy guidelines(that existed before GPT-4 was launched) with unlimited messages.
30 messages/hour is too little. At least if not unlimited GPT-3.5 should have 100 messages per hour and unlimited in GPT-4 for smoother operation.

I have a paid version and got the same message now in audio, while using the audio chat in app.
But how come there is a cap in paid version??
Do you confirm that GPT-4ās current limit is 40 messages every 3 days?
