ChatGPT in CarPlay for all ChatGPT plans!

Today, we rolled out ChatGPT in Apple CarPlay globally for all ChatGPT plans.

With a supported iPhone on iOS 26.4 or later, the latest ChatGPT app, and a CarPlay-enabled car, users can start a new voice conversation right from the CarPlay screen, pick up a recent or pinned chat, or continue a project on the road. For a faster handoff into voice, they can also turn on ChatGPT iOS app → Settings → Voice → Start automatically in CarPlay.

A few support notes: if ChatGPT was the last app used, CarPlay may reopen it automatically when the phone reconnects; voice quality depends on the car’s microphones, speakers, and echo cancellation; and ChatGPT in CarPlay can’t access maps, vehicle data, live location, or control other apps.

Wow this is great! I hope OpenAI improves the voice functionality for ChatGPT. I’ve found that it frequently cuts in and out, sometimes changes for a slight second from a woman’s voice to a man’s voice, and has other annoying glitches that really interrupts the flow of the conversation.
