ChatGPT for Android feature suggestion

Hello OpenAI developers!

Would it be possible to implement using the play/pause button in Android context to pause or continue talking to ChatGPT for Android app even when the screen is off? It would be so nice (especially if you have a Bluetooth controller like the S Pen on Galaxy phones or Chubby buttons remote, or any car media control or Bluetooth keyboard).

Thank you so much!!

Where is the attention on this?! This seems like such an obvious feature I’m truly confused how this hasn’t been implemented. Here is how I see something like this implemented:

While in an active voice chat with ChatGPT the media control functions for any device would be assigned the following functions:

Play/pause: choose between the following two functions, either have the play/pause button mute your mic so that you can allow the conversation to continue in the background without someone nearby accidentally triggering an interruption, OR have the play/pause button actually trigger the pause button within the conversation.

Rewind/back: have ChatGPT read the current most recent message from the beginning. Press again within a short window to have ChatGPT read the next previous message, allowing you to press again and again until you find the message you want to hear again. Any interruption will have the conversation pick back up at the most recent message received, no branching. Extra points if branching is implemented at some point, and allowing the option to rewind to a certain message and picking up the conversation from there in a separate branch.

Forward/fast-forward: either send an automatic “continue” to ChatGPT for those times when it just doesn’t seem to fit the entire response in one message, OR assign it to skip forward to the end of the current voice message being read out loud giving you time to think in silence before speaking again. Sometimes I get enough from the first few sentences but I’m not quite ready to cut it off to start talking again, and I don’t necessarily want the chat to be paused or ended.

Press and hold play/pause: EITHER send the “pause conversation” command function OR send the “end conversation” command function.

I could think of so many more customizable settings for using media playback controls to get a better user experience out of ChatGPT. I’ve wanted these features since 2023. It seemed so obvious, I can’t believe this hasn’t been implemented. I wear a smart watch. My ideal use case would be wearing in ear buds to listen and talk to ChatGPT, but using my watch to control the conversation. Just some simple button presses would help so much. Every possible way to remove the friction of having to open my phone to perform these simple tasks would allow me more handsfree time to work on writing on a whiteboard or using blender or whatever workflow I have going on. Being able to just at least mute my mic and keep the chat idle in the background would be monumental.
