CHATGPT Feature Requests - save Temporary Chat

When using ChatGPT in my MacOS and Android I have an Issue. Normally I start the chat temporarily because sometimes I need to share source code and I don’t want this code to be used in future GPT model trainings (privacy concerns). but sometimes I want to save the temporary chat as a permanent chat

YES!

having the same use case. It would be nice to have a option to save the chat as a regular chat once someone decides to do so after starting the conversation.

I am using temporary chat for code generation for enterprise code and sometimes I just loose progress on some random Firefox restart/refresh and have started saving prompts but it would be much nicer to be able to simply download chat in nice readable format(text whatever I don’t care but make code stand out)

Agree, for an additional reason. Started a chat that I thought might lead to some pretty personal topics as temporary, but ended up with many ideas worth exploring later.
Perhaps a better way of doing that would be a regular chat one then deletes after, but that would likely still briefly make it usable for training (when enabled).

Can we maybe request the data from OpenAi? As they said its stored on their servers for 30 days. So maybe using a custom request via email would be the solution to get lost chats before its too late.

A more simple way would be just be able to download the conversation as markdown instead of convert it to permanent chat.

Love to have this feature.

We need this! Another thought I have — even if you started non-temporary, you should be able to turn it into temporary and back any time during dialogue. The only problem is how to treat it as temporary when you clearly have dialogue id stored.

Well, we can think of temporary not as something that is immediately destroyed once you close the web browser, but as a dialogue with a self-destruct timer (say, 15 minutes, could be even configurable). Then you can pretty much just start or stop this timer, making it possible for dialogues to be preserved or removed at any point in time.

YES! I completely agree!
I’m struggling with temporary chats as I can’t make them permanent or save them for future use, and it’s frustrating. It would be amazing to have the ability to download chats in the same conversational format and later upload them to continue from where we left off in temporary chat mode. This would be incredibly useful in revisiting important discussions.

Sometimes I start with temp chat as I assume it’s a brief conversation. I don’t want it to be saved in my history, as I already have a really long list.
But later on, I realize I want to save it for reference, so really hope there is an option to save temp chat.

You can ask ChatGPT to create a download file of the current chat and save it. Then, in a new chat, you can upload that file and say, “This is the chat from a previous temporary conversation. I’d like to continue where we left off.”

It works, I’ve tried it.

Please consider adding this feature. This happens a lot where I start with a temporary chat and would like to make it permanent. Without the current hassle of extracting/copying it out of the temporary chat and pasting the content into a new permanent chat manually.
