I would love to know the answer for this one as well but I am assuming it is okay since there are many apps available that are subscription based (Spotify, Figma, Lovable and so on).

Following, as I have the same question. Have you figured out a solution for this?

Can you clarify which MCP framework you’re using and how the upload is handled?
In most cases you’ll need to access the file via the tool/file reference provided in the request payload.

For anyone who has successfully passed the review process, how long does it typically take to get through the review?

I don’t think anyone has gotten through review yet - I believe they said that’s not even starting for non-partner apps until January.

hello bro,im use Nodejs MCP framework, which is provide by official;but the MCP Server can’t get the Complete file body which is upload in Chat window,

When we try to “Scan Tools” during submission, we get an error of “Something went wrong with setting up the connection”. Does any thing have any idea how to overcome this? We’ve tried it in incognito mode. It does not help.

Edited: this has been fixed on our end.

Hey everyone, Glad to see the community being active here. Is there any issue that anybody in the thread is still facing and need assistance. Please provide a short description of it and we will be happy to take a look into it.

Yes, actually. I am curious if the following app is compliant with your Submission Rules, or if I need to make some adjustments:

  • Existing SaaS providing a paid MCP via subscription.
  • I am working on developing an Apps SDK app that acts as a way to access the paid MCP functionalities in ChatGPT.
  • No upsell in the GPT App, even indirectly.
  • OAuth used for authentificated access to external account.

Is this compliant with “no subscription” rules or not, when the App itself is not the subscription-gated product, just one of ways how to access it?

Or do I need to make the services accessible via GPT App completely free for the time being?

Thank you very much for clarification in this matter.

Hey @OpenAI_Support ! My app submission has been in “In review” status for 25 days. How can I get feedback? Are apps actually being validated?

The number of apps seems nearly unchanged and mostly limited to large software companies (Slack, Booking, etc.) any precision for SMB ?

Thanks

Hey @Marcel_Fiala,

Good question, with the current Apps submission rules, this setup would likely not be compliant for a public listing. Even if there’s no upsell inside the app and OAuth is handled correctly, an app that primarily provides access to a subscription-gated digital service (like a paid MCP) is still considered enabling a digital subscription, which isn’t allowed right now.
