Yeah, same for me. Vocal chat icon suddenly disappeared with the update, hope they put it back soon

I had it earlier too. I tried to use it, but it said it was experiencing heavy loads and thus unresponsive and to try again later.

Now the headphones icon is completely gone. Hopefully because of the issue going on that the voice service is degraded, but a fix was implemented and they are monitoring this progress to return to stable. Hopefully the button appears again after.

Eager to try this new feature in combination with GPT 4o

IPad (1TB, 2023 edition), iPhone 14 Pro Max 2023 user. I have ChatGPT 40 active in my OpenAI account, and I am able to use the headphones and continuously talk to the GPT 40 version on my iPhone. But even though I have updated the app and restarted my iPad and checked microphone access in settings, I can’t see the headphones in the iPad ChatGPT app when I’m logged in and have GPT 40 selected and active. I really don’t know any extra steps that I can take. Perhaps this is an issue which is known with the iPadOS app version of ChatGPT?

Yes, also plus here, and despite head phones, symbol all the time: no appearance of the new voice features.

In their announcement they are saying it’s in alpha, and they intend to roll it out over the next weeks

What do you mean with version 40?

How do you differentiate and know if you are using the new 4o voice feature that are in alpha, and should not have been rolled out, yet - or if you are interacting with the legacy voice features of the ChatGPT app?

Any clear differentiation that you can mention to confirm?

Can you replace this, e.g. the singing at the end? https://youtu.be/MirzFk_DSiI?si=WVGydaqOjEmoMVSi

You can just ask it what version it’s running lol. It saying just plain old 4.

Such information like the naming of a model is not baked into the model weights, during the months of training…

It is configured in the instruction that are part of the app or API that is used to interact with the model.

And OpenAI simply forgot the make the name change there … :joy:

Just ask it to sing you a song, and if it says it can’t, then it’s the old version.

No, this never works. ChatGPT never knows it’s version properly, because the training data is from before its current model existed.

Both text and voice is running on 4o when you have it set to 4o, but it’s using the old voice interface which has to convert to text in both directions. It’s not really multi-modal like what they demoed, so it has no emotion or any of the other new features. The model is faster and smarter than regular GPT-4 though.

The same problem. It worked for 1 hour. But now Voice chat is gone. Plus user.

Same on iPhone 14 Pro, I am a paying customer and this is really pissing me off. I had this before and they make the announcement to go live to free users yesterday and then take it away from a paying customer. WTF!!!

Did you have it, lose it and then get it back after posting your complaint?

The voice button reappeared on the MacOS app. Unfortunately it’s using the old model i.e. it can’t sing, etc.

My gpt is not gpt-4 right now. Is it normal?

My headphone button has also disappeared. It was working fine yesterday but this morning the sultry Scarlet Johansen like voice said there were technical issues, assuming overload. Now totally removed. I see in iOS App Store that there was a new updated version 1.2024.129 that came out like 4h ago, which probably removed the feature. Annoying when you’re a paying subscriber and features are released to much ado but not ready for prime time.

Not actually released yet I guess. Still doesn’t work.

Same issue here. I’ve even tried to reauth and reinstalling the app
