ChatGPT 4o-Latest abnormal billing cost

We typically use next to no api cost every month. Over the past 2 days our credits been wiped out twice by “ChatGPT 4o-Latest”. I don’t recognize the cost model. Usually when we use 4o the cost is gpt 4o followed by the latest date.

Hi!
Can you share additional information from your usage dashboard?

As it seems that you don’t know who has been causing these costs, it’s a good idea to revoke your API keys. It’s possible that someone else is using the models on your expense.

Likewise, there has been no price increase for using 4o-latest.

Hi please see a screenshot of February usage below. Over the past two days we’ve suddenly started using a this unknown model “ChatGPT 4o-Latest” and incurred abnormal costs

Thanks for sharing the screenshot.

There are a few things to note:
From all the models in the list, 4o has the lowest cost with the prices for the dated snapshot being the same as for the ‘latest’ version.

Someone has send 1 million input tokens to the 4o latest model using a API key from your organization.

We have not received any other reports indicating an issue with billing API consumption.

I expect your key has been compromised and should be revoked.

I agree with this, seems like your API key has been compromised if you aren’t using that model especially in any of your organizations work is an easy way to rule out if it has been compromised.

Ask your org whom uses GPT if they are using this model in particular in any of their work. Or you can simply do a repo review of your code to confirm the model doesn’t show up anywhere.

Thanks for the feedback we deleted all our API keys and created one new one but its still happening. And I can’t see the API keys where the requests are coming from. I’ll attach two screenshots to show what I mean. The calls are coming from a key which ends in “IKW”, we have no such key.

We only have this one. And this only started happening two days ago, we haven’t changed anything. Was there a change to some other charge aspect?

Right, I see the issue.
Your report shows two different types of API keys: Project and User.
User API keys are the legacy API keys and one of them still exists.

You can find them here:
https://platform.openai.com/settings/profile/api-keys

There you will find at least one API key that is actively being used by someone.
The new API key management allows for better access and cost control so this is the best time to update and revoke the legacy keys.
