There has definitely been a shift over the several months I’ve been using ChatGPT. The first response to prompts seems to lately always lean towards “Here’s how you would do it” rather than doing the work. Here’s a recent example:
ChatGPT-4: Please adapt these changes to specific parts of
form_data is used. Since I can only see a small part of the code and the structure of your application, these instructions are somewhat general. You will need to apply them to the appropriate sections of your codebase.
The code visibility excuse is just that, an excuse, the files are uploaded.
You can overcome this by pointing out that GPT has all the files and to go ahead and suggest code. But it’s annoying that the default is to tell the user to do it.
I’m not sharing the prompt here, but it really doesn’t matter, this is the default for most prompting.
I think I’ve seen that too.
I wonder if it is associated with the ability to upload larger and larger files?
(eg, costs too much to completely process the 50mb I uploaded every time you do a query?)
There’s recently been upgrades to the size of the context window, and the conversation history of chatGPT is only dropping messages when it starts exceeding the context window. The amount of attention available have been fixed throughout these changes, meaning you’re now able use large files at the cost of lower attention.
I’ve also noticed that the model sometimes run out of attention in these situations, and forgets the task’s it’s supposed to do, but this is easily solved by using a multi-shot prompt instead
This is becoming very annoying. I also noticed this change - it’s extremely frustrating to use ChatGPT now and hard to get a solution to any problem. Instead of answering a question or addressing a problem, ChatGPT is explaining how a question could be answered or addressed. Even if you make it answer the question, it often is less accurate than it used to.
@N2U It’s hard to think of the need to now do a lot more work just to get ChatGPT to actually be helpful as “multi-shot prompting” but I am trying.
I’m getting hopeless, it is even ignoring instructions configured in a bot. and most of the time it answers very short and not with valuable content… the non multi-model model was much better.
I would prefer to go back to the non-multi podal, and choose the other models when I need them. Instead of having a dumb and lazy chatgpt 4.
Even though GPT4 still seems to be KNOW more, the free GPT 3.5 has become better and easier to work with…
It’s a nightmare.
You are correct, and I appreciate the clarification.
I apologize for the oversight.
I apologize for any confusion caused by the oversights in my previous responses. It was not intentional, and I appreciate your patience and feedback. I strive to provide accurate and helpful information, and I will ensure to be more careful in addressing your requests in the future. If you have any further questions or if there’s anything specific you’d like assistance with, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to help.
When I started using ChatGPT it was answering intelligently with details, multiple points, also giving a synthesis at the end or seeing further.
Now it seems to do all he can to give wrong answers.
I think it could be used as trainig data:
Maybe chatgpt is in a phase where he answear bad on purpose in order to train on user further requests.
In other words if you need to correct his mistakes, he can learn from it.
They maybe found a way to use you for free to train their models
Well strangly enough if you yell at it, or if you convince it that it can do it, then it executes the command.
Hypothetical Plotting theory:
I was thinking that openai maybe wants to have less cpu usage. To do this, they programmed chatgpt to not directly answer, so that it costs more queries, that way they reach their limit and their is less load.
If so, wouldn’t it be better to use the OpenAI API, after all, there are no prompt words
// You should implement your matrix transformation here
Writing endless paragraphs on how I should approach the structure of the code and whatnot…
Lost countless hours ending up coding all by myself… I’ll soon reconsider spending 20 bucks a month for that ! Very bitter.
Chat GPT is a lot more lazy! It is still better in the answer than Google Gemini, but it is lazier than Gemini and even from ChatGPT some while ago. That’s so annoying that instead of give me answer and solution it always say to me to complete the code, search for answers and so on…
I’ve even created a GPT Agent, give it a lot of instructions just to not do it, but it seems that it don’t give a s### about it.
I’m not so sure about ChatGPT giving better answers … I have just got so sick of this lazy AI bot and tried out Gemini…
I gave ChatGPT a document and asked it to summarize it gave me an irrelevant answer. So I asked it to review… and …
I understand that the detailed components I mentioned are already present in the document you provided. If the document already includes the description of individual activities, participant involvement, selection process, number of participants, leadership and qualifications of trainers, content overview, expected outcomes, and methodology or didactics, then it seems you have a comprehensive plan outlined
Now its asking me to do the summary
I am paying 20$ for this!
Did you notice that it is now possible to specifically provide feedback when the model is lazy by clicking thumbs down and then selecting the appropriate option?
While I miss the thumbs up option I think it’s helpful to simply provide feedback this way.
It definitely implies that OpenAI is taking this issue seriously. Which is a positive, I suppose.
Then again if that feedback is being monitored / reported by a lazy AI I’m not certain it’s heading anywhere
Let’s believe that it will be improved by the feedback of many people!
I hope so because right now, it’s pretty annoying. My local GPT is almost performing better. LOL.
Definitely getting lazier. There was temporary relief on the API after they confirmed it. But it’s back to being pretty lazy again.
I totally agree with this. I had a simple matrix case in Unity today and while it tried to generate the code, it consistently chose the wrong way of doing it, despite my best efforts to guide it. It used to do this without any problems. I am also reconsidering my subscription, but I cannot believe why they are making the model so much worse - don’t they have regression testing?
