I would like to request an App Lock / PIN Lock feature for ChatGPT. I want to stay signed in, but when I reopen ChatGPT after closing the tab or after a period of inactivity, the app should require a PIN, passkey, Face ID, Touch ID, or device authentication before becoming usable again.
The lock should protect the entire usable interface, not only chat history. If someone has access to an unlocked session, they could still ask ChatGPT to reveal memories, personal context, recent topics, or sensitive information through prompts.
This would be useful for people who use ChatGPT as a private thinking space, journal, work assistant, or personal archive. It would reduce the risk from shared computers, unlocked devices, browser sessions left open, or someone briefly accessing the userâs device.
Ideally, it would include:
-
Lock after tab close or inactivity
-
User-selectable delay
-
PIN, biometric, passkey, or device authentication
-
Full app lock, not just sidebar/history
-
Protection against prompting for memories or personal context while locked
-
Support for web, desktop, iOS, and Android
This would be similar to 1Password, banking apps, or secure notes apps.
