I’ve been charged $10 for each of the past two months. My usage was minimal, maybe a few cents of usage. Are you now charging a monthly fee for API usage?
API doesn’t have monthly fees, but credits do expire after some time.
You may have a look as these:

Also, your API key may have been compromised. Check your logs for possible abuse.
No credits involved. I modified the API key and recently added 2-factor so I doubt the key has been compromised. OpenAI has charged me $10 each of the past two month for almost zero usage. A bit disturbing. I used the support chat to alert them of the issue.
I see. I presume you are talking about it being directly billed in your credit card without it being added to your balance, is that it?
Anyway, I would still check the usage and credit grants to make sure that is the case, and if so open a ticket on the support at https://help.openai.com/en/
If they don’t respond I’ll cancel my accounts and just use Gemini I guess.
Yes, I don’t see my credit balance increasing. I also have the ChatGPT plus plan. That appears to be charged to a separate account. I see those monthly $20 charges and they look correct. The erroneous charges just started happening in March. It’s hard enough to track all the subscriptions we now need to have. I would hope OpenAI could apply some internal auditing. Very disappointing.
Yeah API and ChatGPT Plus are two distinct things.
I hope you get it resolved soon. Good luck!
Ah … I see what is happening - I wasn’t looking at the year. I didn’t realize that purchased credits expire after 1 year. That shows how little I’ve used it! I removed my credit card. I tried to turn off auto replenish but it won’t let me.
