I understand what you are saying.
Yet I do not see why custom GPT should solely be searchable within OpenAI GPT store. Also, if devs makes apps that calls on API to make use of models, users still have to get tokens to run the app. Business model wise, OpenAI stands to gain when subscribers/users sign up to get their API keys.
