I think it could be useful to have an optional image-generation mode specifically designed for very detailed, iterative projects.
The idea would be to have a low-detail sketch phase before generating the final image:
- Generate a simple structural sketch, rather than a fully detailed image.
- Generate several alternative versions when exploring different designs.
- Let the user make small corrections to the sketch without regenerating a complex image.
- Allow parts of the design to be locked once they are correct, so changing one component doesn’t unintentionally change everything else.
- Once the design is finalized, select “Generate Final” to turn the approved sketch into a detailed, high-quality image while preserving its structure.
This could be an alternative generation mode, rather than something every user has to use. For simple images, the normal generation process would remain faster and more convenient. For highly detailed projects—such as vehicles, spaceships, architecture, characters, product designs, etc.—the additional control could be extremely useful.
It could also potentially reduce wasted compute: instead of repeatedly generating expensive detailed images just to correct one small design element, users could make many cheaper sketch iterations and only use the high-detail generation once the design is finalized.
Basically:
Normal mode: generate the finished image.
Detailed Design mode:
Sketch → alternatives → corrections → lock design → final render
I think this could improve both the user experience and the efficiency of image generation.
