Thought it was only me. Yesterday I was testing a conversational examination with ChatGPT and immediately everything got blank! Made me think I corrupted it!
My experience is the same as @cjdeka. I’ve only had the issue with not being able to retrieve previous conversations once before and now. Literally untrue is the perfect phrasing.
Update 7:55AM EST, chats are back.
This also does not work for me. I have gone to history, selected one of the old chats and attempted to access it. When doing this I now get the error on the left hand side. This is on the free version not the paid.

It is back for me, all my history conversations. I hope it is just a onetime glitch. Again, plus service should at least give us the pleasure of knowing in advance if they decide to delete history or remove such important feature.
I logged out and logged back in again. They reappeared. Seems that’s the new turn on/off technique.

Hi My Chats have returned back… I have got all the chats restored back … Phew
I think its saying something when we realise we miss it when its gone.
Don’t forget… when the AI goes offline, its judgement day.

It’s back for me. Most likely a glitch in the system, now resolved. The “retry” on the history seems to be new though, or at least I hadn’t encountered that before. Regardless, it’s nice to have it back.

Same here; no history is showing. Click on Retry when prompted in the chat window (log out, log back in), but no success there either.
tried it as well, get the ‘Click to retry’ option and it will sit there loading for a bit, but then give an empty history.
likewise, if I go in my browser history and open a link to a specific chat I had it loads that just fine, just doesn’t show it in the history panel
I appear to get the history back on my Chrome browser on my iPhone, but not on my Chrome browser on my Windows 11 PC. Hope this is useful info.
I got my history back om Edge after logging out and back in. I even got the history back from when I was using it during the outage.
Same, logged out and back in, History is back. Panic subsiding.
yes AND it is very frustrating. Hopefully they are working on it.

Clear the cookies for ChatGPT, and then log back in and click “Retry”. It works now.

Try logging in on a different browser. Refresh the chat if it doesn’t load in the new browser (not browser tab like make sure you went from Chrome to Brave or something similar vs just opening another tab and giving it a whirl.) Once/if you get the chat history back, go back to the first browser and try it again.

I had the same problem. Felt like my entire day was ruined! Just got it back tho. Did this by logging out and then logging in, then clicking retry when chat history failed to load. Worked for me. Hope this helps!

Hey, I just faced this issue, that’s why I joined the forum and check what might be wrong 
Of course! The ultimate solution - turn it OFF and ON again! But in this case is - just log out and log in again…
