Add items to existing image, do not replace

Hello,
I have an existing image.
Now I would like ChatGPT to add fruits to this image, for example, but the original image should not be altered.
So, the original image should be used, and the things I specify should be added to this image.
Is this possible with ChatGPT?
Because every time I try, a completely new image is generated, even though I tell ChatGPT to keep the original image and add things to it instead of replacing the existing image.

To keep the exact same image I believe you’ll have to use the new inpainting feature. If you just do the regular chat conversation, it always generates an entirely new prompt and is incapable of using the same image.

And in my experience, even if you use the “edit image” text box, it will still generate a new image that will be very close, but still slightly different, and it just modifies the prompt.

But I’ve found if you hit the “select” button at the top and paint on what you want to change and then tell it to edit, it will only edit that part and keep the rest.

Thanks for your answer. Can you please tell me where I can find the option to edit an image I uploaded?
So far I have only found the option to edit generated images.
