A Review of the Issues I've Encountered with DALL-E Over Several Months

I’ve been using DALL-E to create various images for several months now, and I’ve noticed some persistent issues that haven’t significantly improved. I suspect others might be encountering these as well, so I’ve decided to list them here:

  1. Always filling in too many elements. Even when attempting to use terms like “empty, minimalist, desolate, ethereal, negative space,” areas not specified still get filled.

  2. Despite the description emphasizing “the entire image should be dark,” the generated image often includes light sources (occasionally it does not, but it usually does). Especially artificial light sources.

  3. It is challenging to accurately render a ship “setting sail.” Even when instructed to position the bow pointing away and the stern towards the dock, it rarely displays correctly.

  4. Fails to accurately render “deep sea.” The water surface is consistently too close to the sea bottom.

  5. Often unable to correctly display objects as “horizontal” or “vertical.”

  6. Struggles with depicting objects “upside down”; while bowls are manageable, tables are almost always incorrect.

  7. When requested to depict a full tree in bloom, the size and density of the blossoms are often excessively exaggerated.

  8. Can only depict snowflakes from the front, not from the side, half-side, or falling downwards. Snowflakes also often have too many points, rather than the typical hexagonal shape.

  9. Unable to properly depict Dunhuang Apsaras.

  10. Cat’s ear fur is consistently too long.

  11. Cannot accurately draw the lowercase letter ‘e’.

  12. When designing magazine covers, coffee cups are always depicted from a top-down perspective, which is sometimes not the desired angle.

Additionally, it is inconvenient that there is no option to batch download generated images, nor can you set a specific folder for the downloads, only being able to use the browser’s default download path.
