A few suggestions for Codex
-
Add the ability to use the up arrow to edit a message that has been sent to the queue but has not yet been sent to Codex itself. It is very annoying that you cannot edit a message that is still sitting in the queue.
-
Add the ability to properly configure StatusLine, at least across several lines. Also, visual bars (progress fill) for the remaining context and limits are missing
-
Display running subagents at the bottom and allow entering their session using the arrow keys.
-
Add a new mode where the console is split into 2 screens, left and right (or top and bottom).
On the left, the dialogue with the model; on the right, tool calls and so on.
This would make it much easier to follow what is happening. Clutter in the form of tool calls and diffs makes it very hard, on long tasks, to understand what the model did.
Also, in my opinion, it would be great if you could implement smart auto-compaction.
For example, every 15–20% of context, force the model to clean junk out of its context — tool call results, some user dialogue — leaving only the most important things.
