$200 Pro Account Banned 6 Hours After Purchase — No Violation, No Warning, No Response

Title: $200 Pro Account Banned 6 Hours After Purchase — No Violation, No Warning, No Response

Hi OpenAI Team,

My Codex Pro ($200/month, Pro 20x) account was banned on June 9, roughly 6 hours after I paid and activated it.

Request ID: 8f63d27b-399e-4b93-8f29-df31700ecd765

What I was doing — completely normal usage:
Subscribed around 10 PM via US Apple App Store (official channel, no third-party payment)
Used Codex for about 3.5 hours, running everyday tasks: automated scripts, copywriting research, workflow setup
Used well under 10% of the monthly limit
Computer went to sleep at midnight — no overnight activity whatsoever
No possible violation:
No scraping, no bulk API calls, no abuse
Single device, single location, stable network
Literally just normal, light use of the product I paid for
What I’ve tried:
Submitted 3 separate appeals since June 9
All I’ve received is automated “duplicate ticket closed” responses — zero human review
My entire OpenAI account was deleted/suspended, not just Codex access
I’m seeing dozens of other Pro users reporting the exact same experience this week. This looks like a system-wide false positive.

I’m a paying customer who used the product normally. I just want a fair manual review. Thank you.

Request ID: 8f63d27b-399e-4b93-8f29-df3170ecd765Dear OpenAI Support,My Codex Pro account was permanently banned on June 9, 2026 — about 6 hours after I subscribed via the US Apple App Store. There was no prior warning and no specific policy citation. I had used less than 10% of my weekly allowance. I’ve submitted three appeals, each receiving the same automated “duplicate ticket closed” response without any human review. This has had a serious impact beyond just losing access to a tool:

  • Over the past week, I had been building a company knowledge base and resource library on Codex to streamline our internal operations. All of that work is now locked in an inaccessible account

  • The sudden loss of access has caused significant disruption to our company’s workflow, placing tremendous pressure on daily operations

  • The situation has escalated to the point where I am now facing professional consequences, including being asked to step down from my role

Additionally:

  • $200 was charged at subscription and has not been refunded, yet I’m unable to access the paid service

  • My account is fully locked, meaning I cannot retrieve billing history, receipts, or tax invoices needed for accounting

I fully understand the need for platform security and respect your enforcement processes. However, I believe this may be a case of mistaken enforcement, as I have always used the service normally and in good faith.I kindly ask for:

  1. A manual human review — not another automated closure

  2. Clarification on which policy was triggered, or confirmation if this was a false positive

Thank you for your time. I truly hope this can be looked into personally.@OpenAI_Support — Request ID: 8f63d27b-399e-4b93-8f29-df3170ecd765

Thanks for sharing this, @BaiYU. I can see why this would be frustrating, especially given the loss of access to both your subscription and account data.

Since this involves account-specific information and may require reviewing personal account details, the best next step is to open a support ticket directly by emailing support@openai.com.

Once you've done that, please share the case ID here. That will help the team monitor the request and ensure it reaches the appropriate people for further investigation and troubleshooting.

Thanks Mark — I’ve sent the email to support@openai.com. My case ID is 8f63d27b-399e-4b93-8f29-df3170ecd765. Appreciate your help following up on this.

Quick update, Mark — I received an acknowledgment from support@openai.com. They’ve assigned a new case number: 10012518 and said it’s been escalated to a specialist. The previous case ID was 8f63d27b-399e-4b93-8f29-df3170ecd765 for reference. Thanks again for monitoring this.

Thanks for sharing the case ID, @BaiYU.

I'll be taking over the case from here. Could you also send the email address associated with the affected account through the support email so I can locate the correct account and continue the investigation?

To keep everything centralized and avoid duplicate tickets, I'll be closing this post. Please continue working with me through the existing case for a more streamlined process.
