There is an ongoing service disruption, OpenAI is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

It is not necessary to chime in with your issues, but you are welcome to do so here if you want.

OpenAI has just updated the status page that the fix has been deployed.

Things should be back to normal very soon.

Hi, I’m currently using Chat GPT to help me brainstorm and summarize notes for a book I’m writing and I recently noticed that huge swaths of my conversations spanning weeks or months are missing. I realized this when I was searching for specific prompts and quotes I saved from previous chats and nothing was returned. Digging deeper, I saw that entire conversations I had about character profiles were just gone. Now, there are gaps between conversations where things that were said (and saved in my notes) are simply missing. The issue appears on both desktop and mobile.

Steps I’ve taken to solve this:

I’m using the paid version of GPT
I’ve logged out and back in
I’ve cleared my browser history
I’ve switched browsers (Arc, Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

Has anyone else encountered this kind of issue? Additional suggestions on how to resolve it?

You can:

log out
go to log back in
when asks for password, “forgot password”
get password reset mail

or if using an authentication service, change that account’s password.

Tampering with past chats goes along with account intruders that also delete their own chats to avoid detection. Chat-related extensions or downloads become highly suspect.

You can also check “archived” under ChatGPT settings, see if any conversations were placed there that can be restored.

If a conversation is deleted, it is gone, unrecoverable. You can hope that it is some database fluke by OpenAI that will be fixed, but that is far down the list of likely scenarios.

(Note: This initial question and reply was merged to this outage topic in error by a mod. The loss of many chat history items by a particular user was before systemic issues with ChatGPT.)

RAM issues has gone, now the problem is that reasoning is going down as context memory is being lost from prompt to prompt, responses cutted off, very frustrating, it’s like the model has been downgraded to 3.5

Did this happen 2-3 days ago? I experienced something similar recently. Chats disappeared, and the last chat I worked on for half a day rolled back to an earlier state, causing me to lose my progress. Fortunately, I always save important information outside the platform as a precaution.

I hope you can recover your work. It’s a good practice for everyone to save their work externally because this technology is continuously evolving, and sometimes things don’t work as planned.

Using MS Edge without issue. In fact, I’ve noticed a far more stable environment than Chrome and/or Firefox.

I can’t reach to my personal page in chatgpt.
I can only see this white page.

Yup. Not loading on browser or app. Almost seems like it’s offline.

On browser, I just get a mostly blank screen apart from the sidebar and edit icons. And on the app I get a “Request is not allowed…” error message whenever I try to use it.

No luck in beling able to access ChatGPT on Chrome. The browser is slow to load the website and then whe n it finally does load you are unable to use the platform.

I’ve done a few hard resets. All of my search history and active tabs are empty. No queries/prompts are loading. Any ideas?

So do I. A few minutes ago, GPT suddenly stopped working on my computer . It doesn’t seem like this issue is just me.

Same here, all of a sudden I am facing this every week now where Chrome stops chatgpt URL. I tried with a different browser but it stopped working as soon as I logged in.

Even in incognito, it’s the same. No solution so far!

When I was using it, it got super slow, then went blank. Then, I switched to Safari. It worked, until I logged in. How come it’s not working?

After logging in, a white screen is displayed and nothing else.
