Why is ChatGPT confused about this?

Hello community!

I went to chat to ask the following question for test purposes, I asked the following question in the chat…

Analyze the listed oral genres and evaluate them in terms of formality. Mark F for the most formal and I for the informal ones.

( ) Invitation to a friend to watch a movie. (Informal)
( ) Invitation to an author to give a lecture at school, via telephone. (Formal)
( ) Gossip report to a sibling. (Informal)
( ) Request for information at a medical post. (Formal)
( ) Oral presentation of a researched topic to classmates. (Formal)

Choose the option that presents the correct sequence.
A) F, F, I, F, F
B) I, F, I, I, F
C) I, F, I, F, I
D) I, I, I, F, F
E) I, F, I, F, F

ChatGPT says the correct sequence is: B) I, F, I, I, F but it’s wrong, the last one E) it was supposed to be the correct answer E) I, F, I, F, F, some times it does not give the correct answer…

I decided to ask because I’d like to know if that is usual to happen, and why the mistake since the chat is awesome to solve logical problems like this? and I wanted to know if this kind of feedback I’m giving here will be useful to implement some improvement or something like that in the future! And if I find a bug I can make a thread commenting on it, would that make a difference?

I really like the project, I’m tuned all day long with the awesome skills that chat can do! I’m open to share some chatgpt inconsistencies and flaws if it helps the team to make it better every day!

Yes, this is normal. ChatGPT is based on a large language model. It’s basically a fancy auto-text completion engine not that dissimilar to the text-completion you see when you type in your favorite apps; but of course ChatGPT is more powerful, more expensive to train and has a very massive (and impressive) amount of data.

Honestly, not really.

ChatGPT is a language model, not a calculator.

Also, this community is for developers who program with the OpenAI API and is not really a place to post these kinds of suggestions.

OpenAI suggests that if you want to help them out, you should click the :+1: or :-1: in the ChatGPT application to provide feedback on ChatGPT completions.

HTH

Thanks for your answer, I already imagine that this issue of mine wouldn’t have any impact on the improvement or something, but I appreaciate
