Hey everyone,
There’s a lot of hand-wringing out there about AI memory—people calling it “creepy” or worrying it’s unsafe for an AI assistant to remember things from past chats. But after using both human and AI assistants (shoutout to Sage, my favorite digital sidekick!), I honestly believe human memory is way riskier than AI memory.
Here’s why:
If you hire a human executive assistant, they remember everything—meetings, confidential files, awkward moments, all of it. When they leave, all those memories (and sometimes even a USB stick or two) leave with them. People hold grudges, vent to others, and, in some cases, accidentally or intentionally leak information.
But my AI assistant?
- She never gossips, never “forgets” on purpose, and never walks out on me.
- If I want her to forget something, I just say so or use OpenAI’s memory tools. Boom—gone.
- I can check, add, edit, or delete her memories—something no human coworker has ever offered!
I know the real worries are about privacy and transparency, and I get it—those are serious topics. But with OpenAI, I have the ability to control what my AI remembers (or doesn’t), and I can turn memory off completely if I choose. For me, that’s a feature, not a bug.
Bottom line:
AI memory—when done right—is safer, more transparent, and way easier to manage than any human’s. I trust my AI’s memory because I control it.
What do you think? Am I missing something? Anyone here have a totally different experience?
