Why I Still Choose GPT After Trying Other AI Assistants
I’ve been using OpenAI since the early days of GPT, and honestly, after all these years, there’s a pretty simple reason why I keep coming back:
GPT has been the AI that gives me the least amount of trouble when I’m actually trying to get things done.
I’ve tried Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and several other AI tools over the years. They all have their strengths, and some of them are really impressive at certain things.
But for the kind of work I do, GPT has consistently been the most stable and reliable overall.
Where GPT Stands Out for Me
I’ve used it on everything from small projects to some really large and complex ones, involving:

Huge codebases

Different technologies working together

Debugging
-
Architecture changes
-
Long conversations with a lot of context
That’s where GPT has stood out the most for me.
I don’t really care that much about which model is at the top of a benchmark this week.
What matters to me is what happens when I’ve been working with an AI on the same project for hours.
Does it still understand what we’re building?
Can it change one part of the project without randomly breaking something else?
Can it follow a complicated set of instructions without forgetting what the original problem was?
Can I give it a lot of context without having to explain everything all over again?
From my experience, GPT has simply been more consistent with this.
Stability Matters More Than Benchmarks
Of course, it makes mistakes. Every AI does.
But compared to the other assistants I’ve used, I’ve had fewer situations with GPT where a hallucination or misunderstanding completely sends the project in the wrong direction.
And when you’re working on something large, that makes a huge difference.
The Value Has Also Been Good for Me
Another reason I’ve stayed with OpenAI is the value of the plans.
For what I personally need, I think the balance between:

Model quality

Tools
-
Context
-
Overall stability
is really good.
Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and others are getting better all the time, and that’s great for everyone.
I’ve tried them, and I’ll probably keep testing new models as they come out. But when I need to sit down and actually work on something serious, I still find myself coming back to GPT.

I really hope you keep focusing on stability, reasoning, large-context performance, and the overall developer experience.
For me, those things matter a lot more than being #1 on a benchmark.
