Which API model corresponds to ChatGPT 5 Instant in ChatGPT?
I know that gpt-5-chat-latest is listed as the model used by ChatGPT, but that model does not support file_search. This can’t be the actual one powering ChatGPT, since in ChatGPT I can upload and search across all kinds of files.
When I test conversations with GPT-5 Instant in ChatGPT and inspect the requests, I can clearly see that file_search is being used.
So, which API model should I actually call if I want the same behavior as ChatGPT 5 Instant (with file_search support)?
