What is the new think button for o1?

I just noticed a think button below the text input bar. As far as i know, o1 is a reasoning model. What is the difference between selecting think or not ?

From testing the think feature with 4o , I think it essentially triggers the o1 model, so maybe there is no point when you are on o1 already.

I agree. most probably it’s a feature designed to be used with 4o, but it’s just there even if you select o1 . What we discovered is, if you select model 4o and if you click “think”, you cannot send documents as an attachment other than images.

Essentially, yeah, it just triggers O1 so should stop that. I’m wondering if it’s actually a good feature to have there though—especially when thinking about optimizing space for icons. Since you can already switch models from other methods, it might not be necessary.

it seems to increase the chain of thought

I had the same tought that it try to think more , because i was coding. and my code seems to work from first time when i used the button.
but now it is gone, before the button it was always try and error.
and it was some complex code.
so maybe a new process that’s been tested?
the button is also gone, i would be nice if we could test it more, or maybe it is to good ?
