Using Chatgpt for customized Translations

As a translator, I frequently provide specific instructions regarding my translation preferences for certain words and phrases. I use the instructions field within relevant chats to outline my preferences and even organise them into folders for each language.

Additionally, ChatGPT often confirms that it has saved these preferences and updated its memory. However, despite these efforts, I have noticed that the system frequently ignores my instructions and imposes its own translation choices instead of adhering to the preferences I have provided.

This inconsistency is becoming increasingly challenging to manage, as I often have to edit translations manually to align them with my instructions. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if there is a better way to approach this.

Could you please clarify the following for me:

  1. Am I using the correct method to teach ChatGPT my preferences?
  2. Is there a specific strategy I should adopt to ensure that the system consistently follows my instructions?
  3. Why is it not possible for ChatGPT to reliably follow my preferences, given that these are simple word choices and not complex coding or programming tasks?

If I need to adjust my approach, I would greatly appreciate any tips or best practices you could provide to help minimise the need for repeated manual editing.

I look forward to your guidance on resolving this issue.
