Unable to log into ChatGPT Mac App

I tried the Mac app for ChatGPT and I can’t log in:

“Something went wrong. Please make sure your device’s date and time are set properly. Check that your internet connection is stable, then restart the app and try again. (code:9E175E98-C1C4-4564-A232-945C4ACA59A5,API.DeviceCheckError,2)”

My internet is stable, and the date and time are set automatically. Did anyone find the solution to this?

facing the same issue here

I have the same problem and they are absolutely no help

There’s no fix most likely… I’m getting same error on latest android app

Same problem. There must be some workaround that ChatGPT is aware of, but as we can’t ask it without successful login…

I solved the problem by allowing LittleSnitch (a personal firewall app) to give ChatGPT access to 4 specific internet connections.

Moral of the story: check your firewall settings. It might interfere with ChatGPT login.

I HAVE FOUND A FIX FOR ALL MACOS USERS!

  1. Turn on two factor Google Authentication for your ChatGPT OpenAI account.
  2. SIGN OUT of your Apple ID/Account on your Mac.
  3. Log into ChatGPT. This should fix the issue and log you in without a problem,
  4. Sign back into your Apple ID/Account & enjoy!.
I had been losing my mind over this bullshit for months and months. I’m so glad I have finally gotten over this obstacle, I hope this method works for all of you too, GOOD LUCK!

Hello all,

I had to fix this issue by following below:

Go to settings → privacy & security → Accessibility → + add application and select ChatGPT

Quit GPT
Then access it again and enter your credentials again.

It should work and please let me know if you have issues still.

that was it…thanks mate, thank you so much!!

Doesn’t work on my M1 MacBook Air :frowning:
No vpn active, mac firewall switched off and added ChatGPT to the applications in Accessibility but still: DeviceCheckError

I’m sure the error isn’t specifically just for this problem/solution, else the devs would have immediately told the support staff what solution to communicate.

In my understanding, Accessibility Permissions are needed to communicate with some components, not just to make changes in the system. — In this case, some user configurations needed for one reason or another this layer of verification to log in and others didn’t. But that doesn’t mean just because it can now verify on that level, that the verification will be successful.

So maybe the app is not happy with the timezone not matching the ip, or whatever absolutely unnecessary thing the web app doesn’t need to check to work, but the app does…
I can just tell you that I tried absolutely everything before hearing this solution, including a fresh install of the OS and this “Accessibility Permissions Not Enabled-Problem” was the only thing that worked for me, even WHILE private relay, the most restrictive Safari settings and firewall turned on!

So I think, if it wasn’t that, then you have to step back and start again searching for anything else standing in the way of the app spying.

in system settings > privacy & security, add ChatGPT app to Accessibility, Input Monitoring and “Screen & System Audio Recording” and quit, reopen ChatGPT.

Any updates?
I have changed privacy & security settings, but it didn’t help.

For about half a year, I was troubled by this login error and various attempts ended in vain, but I resolved it with this method.

Resolved it for me! I really appreciate you sharing this
