Turn ChatGPT Tasks Into Adaptive Goal & Coaching Programs
TL;DR: I’d like to propose expanding ChatGPT’s scheduled Tasks/reminders into an adaptive system that helps users actually progress toward long-term goals.
ChatGPT already allows scheduled and recurring tasks. My idea is to take that capability further: instead of simply reminding someone to do something, ChatGPT could know where the user is in a learning plan, workout program, study schedule, or other goal—and deliver what comes next.
For example:
A user says: “I want to learn Spanish. Give me a 15-minute lesson every morning.”
Instead of receiving the same daily reminder, ChatGPT could provide:
Day 1: Greetings and introductions
Day 2: Common questions
Day 3: Conversation practice
Day 4: Review areas the user struggled with
Day 5: Progress assessment
The same concept could apply to workouts. A user could ask ChatGPT to create a four-day-per-week program. At the scheduled time, ChatGPT would notify them and open directly to that day’s workout, rather than simply saying, “Remember to work out.”
The key difference is:
Scheduled Task + Goal + Progress + Personalization + Adaptive AI Content
Potential features could include:
- Progress tracking
- Adaptive lessons/workouts
- Completion check-ins
- Missed-session rescheduling
- Milestones and progress summaries
- Pause/resume controls
- Personalized notification schedules
- Multiple active goals
Advanced goal programs could potentially be offered as a paid subscription feature, although pricing and availability would naturally be OpenAI’s decision.
I think this could make ChatGPT particularly valuable for learning, fitness, studying, professional development, and other goals that require consistency over weeks or months.
ChatGPT is already very good at telling us how to accomplish something. This feature could help users actually follow through and accomplish it.
