Am I alone here or has the cost of using this technology gone up prohibitively. I have been a consistent user over the past year and I have noticed a dramatic, ridiculus and unsustainable increase in what i pay for tokens. I typically go for the best models but that alone cannot explain the scale of increase i have noticed. For me its as simple as how long it takes to consume $x in tokens, which is probably how most users would feel it. $20 was sufficient for 2 weeks of vibe or what i call “jive” coding, I put $20 on my account 6 hours ago and its gone. For a technology that undoubtedly leverages humanities collective intelligence, while do get the power consumption part of the equation, OpenAI cannot expect to build thier nuclear power station on my back or dime. I wouldnt feel so free to gauge us users so much, most folks would simply resort to self-hosted models, which is exactly what i am planning to do. Usage costs have gone up astronomically, do something, and rethink the economics, and dial this back or you will loose customers in droves.
