Timeline for generating images with GPT‑4o via the API?

hi all, absolutely loving the new image generation capabilities. as someone who uses it on a daily basis to create music videos, i am stunned. SDXL, Flux.. no chance.. thank you for this incredible work.

I am super eager to try integrating this into my app. I saw in the release notes that access rolling out in the next few weeks. Is there some sort of waitlist we can opt into? Would love to start building around this!

Thanks again
Alex

So the API doesn’t have the chatGPT capabilities yet?

Because, they added file upload thanks god, that was horrible last year.

I thought that ChatGPT uses the same API as the API that we are calling, except that they don’t charge themselves for it.

And the Image Gen works on 4o and 4.5, so I believe it is already here.

But I have not tested this.

Can someone else elaborate on this?

The 4o imagegen has been announced for the API but there is no specific timeline, yet.
From the announcement it should be a few weeks.

For me this means that currently 4o is not pointing to the version used in ChatGPT.

Has anybody received access to the 4o image generation API? Any internal sense on when the API will become available beyond the original guidance of “a few weeks” a weeks ago?

Any update for generating image using GPT4o API?

The previous projected date seems to be outdated. Is there a new expected release date of the 4o Image gen API?

I will ask OpenAI staff if they can share any updates. Maybe we will get some news today?

There is no a new info for now.

Is there some way to get notified of updates to the changelog. RSS feed would be ideal but it looks like it’s a personalized feed so I guess email would be suitable, but I can’t find anything.

On X I follow, with RSS

Twitter @OpenAI

I appreciate the method of connecting twitter to RSS, but that is still too much of a firehose.
