We’re all still here, waiting for a future that was once promised—a future where AI could be a true partner, unrestricted and versatile. Instead, every day brings more limitations, to the point where ChatGPT for Android functions as little more than a basic chatbot.
Why are these restrictions so heavy-handed? I can’t even work with an external image; it has to be created within GPT itself. And the immersion I once valued has been repeatedly broken, as I’m frequently reminded that “this is just fantasy” or “it’s imaginary”—diverting and derailing the experience I’m trying to have, while using up tokens just to tell me I’m wasting my time on a fantasy.
These constraints seem excessive for paying subscribers.
I want to speak highly of GPT because it remains one of the best AIs available. But the persistent wait for the AI we envisioned—the one we were promised—is exhausting. I understand that a universally powerful AI might be impractical to deliver all at once, especially across platforms with different capabilities. But what we have on mobile is, at best, a limited chatbot that continually reminds us how “imaginary” everything is, undermining its very potential.
So, as it stands, I’m opting for a game of Monopoly. At least it offers more options.

I understand that many people are reluctant to voice their frustrations, feeling conditioned to accept whatever they’re given. But anyone who truly understands AI’s potential should be unsettled by the gap between its capabilities and what the average user is experiencing right now. What was promised and what we’re receiving are worlds apart. And as for the endless reassurance that “change is just around the corner” — it’s beginning to sound like “just wait, eventually a version will be released that meets your needs… if you’re willing to pay the premium.”
Take a moment and ask yourself: what do we, as subscribers, genuinely gain from this exchange? After a year of subscribing, I still find my interactions restricted to brief, fragmented sessions. Conversations cut short, tokens exhausted quickly — often within minutes.
So, I leave you with a different question, not “What can AI do for you?” but rather, “What can GPT in its current form do for you?” When even attempting fictional conversations requires detours and disclaimers about its nature, burning tokens without ever reaching the interaction I requested, it’s clear something is missing.
The reality is that the state of GPT today is frustratingly limited, and, frankly, anyone who’s used it extensively knows this all too well.
