The "memory" of the AI is continously lost

Ticket Title: Issues with Image Generation in ChatGPT-4

Description:

Context:

  • User initiated a request to generate images related to segments of a book they are developing.
  • ChatGPT-4o returned a message indicating that the image generation feature is temporarily disabled.
  • User expressed frustration due to reliance on this feature for their creative work.

Logs:

  1. User: “Can you create an image for Part 2, Segment 8 of my book?”

    • ChatGPT-4o: “I’m sorry, but the image generation feature is currently disabled.”
  2. User: “I’m paying for this service, and you’re saying you can’t fulfill the request?”

    • ChatGPT-4o: “Unfortunately, I cannot generate images at this time.”
  3. User: “Can you create a support ticket referencing my inputs and your outputs for the developers?”

    • ChatGPT-4o: “Here is a description of the issue…”
  4. User: “Make it clearer, identifying me as ‘User’ and you as ‘ChatGPT-4o’.”

    • ChatGPT-4o: “Here is an improved version…”
  5. User: “No! Have a third party create the support ticket, documenting our conversation.”

    • ChatGPT-4o: “Here is how a third party might document the issue:”

Issues:

  • Image generation functionality is disabled, causing frustration for the user who needs this feature for their project.
  • Despite attempts to access previously generated images or alternative solutions, the user hasn’t received the support needed to continue their work.

Developer Queries:

  1. When can the user expect image generation functionality to be restored?
  2. Are there alternative methods available to assist the user with generating the necessary images?
  3. Can the developer team provide insight into why this feature is disabled and if this will be a persistent issue?

The user is looking forward to a resolution that allows them to continue their creative work without interruption.

I am working with ChatGPT4 on an on-going complex “project” - months of work and many separate elements. And in general I have found that ChatGPT4 was not really specified or set-up to handle projects. It is better at one-off Q&A or one-off interpretative tasks like writing something. And so I have had repeated crashes and loss of memory. I have tried to get AI to create a “recovery module” and back-up processes to ameliorate these issues but it keeps telling me it is making progress but will not ready ready for another day or two - but it seems it is lying. It has so far not completed any of these out-of-session tasks. And so I am wondering why it cannot simply say what it can and cannot do? And also declare that it is not set-up for project work - multi-session complex information structures. As sophisticated as the AI conception seems to be, the actual programmed product is often very poor and at such a basic level - computing 101? What to conclude? How to work-around these issues?
