For over a month now, every time I have a 4o text message and use the “read aloud” function, the audio loops back in on itself around itself multiple times.
For example, it’ll play 0:00-2:00 then loop back around and start back at 0:00 (although the timer continues from 2:00)
It incredibly frustrating to try and use ChatGPT when it’s doing this. For basically every message, I have to skip ahead to the part of the message I haven’t heard yet multiple times, including waiting for the app to buffer the audio.
Would really like to see a solution to this.

Same for me on Android MIUI 14 and iPadOS 18 starting around Oktober. Every message I choose to read aloud is now looped 3 to 4 times until it reaches the end.
I observe on the MIUI 14 that the timer does reset to 0.00 when it starts again. Though on the IPadOS, I see the same effect as you’ve described and the timer will loop over and over making the timer go over 5 to 10 minutes.
I noticed this problem back in October and just experienced it again (February 26, 2025). This time it was a response generated by o3-mini. I suspect it has less to do with the model generating the original response and more to do with what text is getting passed to the TTS model or the TTS model itself. But it definitely loops before it reaches the end, which is extra annoying because I get deja vu and never hear the whole thing!
FYI, I didn’t know where to report this bug so I literally had 4o do a Search and it linked straight to this url.
prompt used: “Where can I provide feedback to the ChatGPT product team? The Read Aloud function that produces TTS audio on a response is having issues where it will loop back in the middle of a response back to the beginning. This has been the case since October and I just noticed it again.”
Perhaps adding a feature where people can report bugs on functionality would be much easier.
