Suggestion: Enhance Creative Freedom for Verified Adult Users

Dear OpenAI Team,

My name is Jungwoo, and I would like to share some feedback and suggestions regarding ChatGPT, specifically focusing on content moderation, artwork system improvements, and a potential 19+ mode. I believe these improvements will significantly enhance user experience, especially for verified adult users.

:pushpin: Why I Am Making This Suggestion:
Currently, users face significant restrictions when it comes to character representation, particularly for male characters. Male characters are often restricted from showing their upper bodies or even wearing shorts, while female characters are allowed to wear swimsuits or lingerie. This imbalance limits creative freedom, even for verified adult users who should have the ability to customize characters freely.

Additionally, the artwork system lacks options for detailed body expressions (such as hands, lips, muscles, and skin). If a 19+ mode is introduced, it should provide verified adult users with complete creative freedom while maintaining ethical standards.

:fire: 1. Content Moderation Relaxation - Freedom of Male Character Representation:

  • Current Issue:

    • Male characters are restricted from showing their upper body or even wearing shorts, while female characters can wear swimsuits or lingerie.
    • Even non-sexual exposure of male characters is blocked, which feels unnatural.
    • Despite being verified adult users, there are unnecessary restrictions on male character representation.
  • Suggested Changes:

    • Allow male characters to have the same freedom as female characters, such as upper body exposure, shorts, swimsuits, and various outfits.
    • For non-sexual contexts, allow muscle definition, upper body exposure, and beachwear freely.
    • For verified adult users, non-sexual male exposure should be permitted without restrictions.

:fire: 2. Artwork System Improvement - Freedom of Body Expression:

  • Current Issue:

    • Male characters are restricted from even wearing shorts, and upper body or muscle expressions are difficult.
    • Details of body parts such as hands, lips, and muscles cannot be freely expressed.
    • Users are limited in customizing their characters and expressing their creative ideas.
  • Suggested Changes:

    • Allow male characters to freely display upper and lower body (shorts, swimsuits, muscle definition).
    • Add detailed settings for body parts (hands, lips, muscles, skin tone, tattoos, etc.).
    • For verified adult users, non-sexual body expressions should be freely available.
    • Examples: Muscle definition, chest exposure, detailed hand expressions, facial expressions.

:fire: 3. 19+ Mode - If Introduced:

  • If a 19+ mode is introduced, it should ensure complete creative freedom for verified adult users.
  • Verified adult users should be allowed to create mature content in text or artwork, including the following:
    • The ability to depict intense scenes, including dramatic, emotional, or even crime-related scenarios in a comic or creative context.
    • Sexual expressions, as well as non-sexual but dramatic or intense expressions, should be freely allowed.
    • However, depictions related to real people or real-world events must be strictly prohibited to maintain ethical standards.

:fire: Additional Rationale:

  • These improvements will provide a more balanced and fair creative experience for all users.
  • Verified adult users will have the freedom to explore creative expressions without unnecessary restrictions.
  • Ensuring clear guidelines while maintaining ethical standards will keep the platform safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your feedback.

Just FYI, no one from OpenAI reads these and they’re not going to implement something simply because you had ChatGPT write up a request.

I didn’t think you’re wrong, I just think your wasting your time.

I understand your perspective, and I agree that not every post here may reach OpenAI directly. But I don’t think it’s a waste of time.

This forum is a place where users can share their ideas, build a community, and find common ground. Even if OpenAI doesn’t respond to every post, ideas that gain support can still have an impact.

Actually, there have been cases where user feedback led to real changes. For example, a recent update aimed to improve ChatGPT’s responsiveness based on user feedback. Although it initially caused some issues, OpenAI listened to further user feedback and adjusted it again.

In addition to the forum, I’m also using the official feedback form to directly submit my suggestions. I believe that if we keep our ideas clear and well-supported, they will eventually be noticed.:fire:
